Combining the pen and paper with the many of possibilities of the internet, Prolitfic is empowering writers everywhere.
Recognizing the biggest problem that lies with being a small time writer is not getting the credit they deserve or attention for their work due to overshadowing competition from the big league, UT Austin students are solving this issue with their startup Prolitfic. Started back in 2018, Prolitfic describes themselves as the “Soundcloud for the publishing industry”. Prolitfic is a digital crowdsourcing platform that takes into account of both the reviews of readers and editors. This allows for writers of all types to have the chance to compete on equal footings. As a result, small time writers are inclined to continue to write knowing that they will be rewarded for their efforts.
In addition to being a digital crowdsourcing ratings platform, Prolitfic is also fundamentally serves as a writing community. Both large and small writers use Prolitfic to share their stories with readers. Furthermore, Prolitfic has established partnerships with many publishing professionals and literary magazines. These partnerships are essential when it comes to growing an author’s writing career and giving readers more of what they want to read.
Recently just this summer, Prolitfic has been chosen to be part of 74 startups in MassChallenge’s Austin’s Accelerator program. With Prolitfic, UT Austin students are empowering writers with the opportunities of getting their work recognized and helping readers find their next adventure.
